Brother Calvin Warren

Hello, my name is Calvin Warren. I am the pastor of Southaven Primitive Baptist Church. I would like to say welcome to our web site and invite all, that have a desire to worship in the simplicity of a New Testament Church, to come and worship with us each Sunday starting at 10:30a.m.

I grew up in and around Tupelo, Mississippi. One of eleven children born into a Primitive Baptist family. My dad was a farmer and loved working with his hands. He did well in providing for his family and was a devoted Primitive Baptist as was his Father and Grand-Father before him. So all I have ever known is the sweet doctrines of grace, in which I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My sincere desire is to Hold Firmly to the Simplicity that is in Christ Jesus.

I met my wife to be, Betty Ruth Harville, in the fall of 1959 and we were married August 20, 1960 shortly after her sixteenth birthday. For forty-five years she has been the love of my life and the very best help mate that I could ever have hoped for. She is always encouraging and supporting me in my ministry. The Lord has blessed us abundantly, giving us three children (two daughters and a son), as well as four granddaughters and one grandson. We were blessed in that all three of our children joined the Primitive Baptist Church.

Betty and I made our commitment to the church at Willis Heights Primitive Baptist Church in Tupelo, Mississippi under the ministry of Elder Billie Boyd some time after we were married. I was elected the clerk and remained in that office for awhile. Then I was honored to be called to the office of Deacon. On January 16, 1972 I was ordained as deacon and humbly served the church for seven years. The Lord worked in me, as only He could, and put within me a burning desire to preach the gospel in which I immediately surrendered. After two years of steady appointments, my home church, Willis Heights Primitive Baptist, called for my ordination to the full work of the ministry. On November 7, 1981 I was ordained and called to pastor Willis Heights Church.

In May of 1985 Whitehaven Primitive Baptist Church called for my services as their pastor. I accepted, and started on the first Sunday in June 1985 where I’ve remained until this day. We have enjoyed many wonderful blessings and have experienced the greatest love among God’s people there, that we have ever had the privilege to witness in our ministry.

We are still the same people today, but we have moved from our location in Whitehaven (in Memphis, Tennessee) to Southaven, Mississippi and have renamed our church Southaven Primitive Baptist. So if you have the opportunity to come visit, you will surely be blessed.

May the Lord Keep You is my Prayer,
Elder Calvin Warren
